Richmond Associates is proud to be the preferred recruitment supplier for Tate.

Since 2004 Richmond Associates has placed over 30 candidates at Tate, and we have had an agreement in place since 2007 to be the exclusive recruitment partner for key fundraising roles within the development team.

Tate’s ambition is bold – we aspire to be regarded as one of the leading visual arts organisations by international standards. Tate’s mission, laid down by Parliament in the 1992 Museums and Galleries Act, is ‘to increase public knowledge, understanding and enjoyment of British, modern and contemporary art’ – in a phrase, to democratise access to art. Everyone who works for Tate contributes to that mission.

A world renowned arts organisation, Tate is a family of galleries and operates on four sites in different parts of Britain:

Tate Britain at Millbank, London was founded as the National Gallery of British Art in 1897 and became the Tate Gallery in 1932.  In 2000 it was renamed and became Tate Britain.  Tate Britain presents the national collection of British art from 1500 to date.

Tate Liverpool is located on the Albert Dock in Liverpool and was opened in 1988.  Tate Liverpool is one of the largest galleries of modern art outside of London.

Tate St Ives is located on Porthmeor Beach in St Ives and opened in June 1993.  Tate St Ives also comprises the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden which has been run by Tate since 1980.  Tate St Ives displays modern and contemporary art, in particular the internationally recognised St Ives School.

Tate Modern at Bankside, London was opened in May 2000.  Tate Modern presents the national collection of international modern and contemporary art.

Tate Development Office

The Tate Development Office was founded in 1990 to raise funds from the private sector for revenue and capital projects at Tate and is now counted among the most established and successful fundraising teams in the UK, not only within the arts sector but across the not-for-profit spectrum. The Development Office continues to expand to meet the growing needs of its four gallery sites and their programmes. The majority of personnel are based in London with staff in St Ives and Liverpool, and an affiliated US charity, the American Patrons of Tate.

Tate’s vision for 2015 and beyond is predicated on significant income generation through fundraising. The Development Office is responsible for all fundraising at Tate, and is currently delivering a comprehensive revenue and capital campaign to raise £350m over a multi-year period, at the heart of which is the Tate Modern Project, the most ambitious arts fundraising campaign ever mounted in the UK. The Development Division has 6 teams: Individual Giving, Major Gifts, Corporate Fundraising, Public Sector, Events and Operations.
