Client and Successful Candidate: Director of Development and Alumni Relations, School of Oriental and African Studies

Our Process

We follow a best practice process consisting of five main stages:

Client briefing

At this stage we aim to understand the client's organisation and culture, and identify the required characteristics and experience of eligible candidates.  We also agree an appropriate recruitment strategy for the role, ensuring we work within the client’s human resources policies and practices.

Candidate identification

Depending on the agreed strategy, at this stage we identify candidates through a choice or combination of executive search and selection methods supported by our extensive contact network and quality database.

Candidate assessment

The emphasis at this stage is on evaluation, by rigorous interview, of a candidate’s competencies in the areas identified by the client as critical to success.  We also pay particular attention to a candidate’s commitment and suitability in terms of the cause and cultural fit.

Candidate selection

Supported by a comprehensive interview pack, our clients interview short listed candidates and choose their preferred candidate for the role.  We often advise on tasks or presentation topics for this stage of the selection process.

Offer and employment

We make an offer to the lead candidate on behalf of our client.  We remain actively involved at this concluding stage to ensure that any outstanding issues are resolved to the satisfaction of both parties.

Where we differ in our approach is the emphasis we put on the quality of the relationships at each stage. We take whatever time is necessary to fully understand the needs and wishes of our clients and candidates.
